Household Whose Report Reached Paul

Chloe

Mentioned exactly once — "Chloe's people" brought Paul word of the quarrels and divisions splitting the Corinthian church.

Life and work

Paul opens his rebuke of Corinthian factionalism by explaining how he heard about it: "For it has been reported to me by Chloe's people that there is quarreling among you" (1 Corinthians 1:11). Nothing else is said about who Chloe was — possibly a Corinthian believer whose household members or employees had traveled to Ephesus and told Paul what they'd seen, or possibly someone based in Ephesus with connections to Corinth. Beyond this single line, nothing further is known.

Extra-biblical evidence

No extra-biblical record of Chloe survives; even her relationship to the "people" mentioned alongside her is not specified in the text.
