Surviving remains include a bath complex endowed by Herodes Atticus, a theatre, gymnasium, and the remains of an Augustan-era harbor with two breakwaters, now partly silted. This is the harbor from which Paul departed for Macedonia and to which he later returned; its identification is not disputed.
