History
- Founded
- In the 1st-century context, referred to the Kingdom of Kush, centered at Meroë on the Nile

Archaeology
Excavation of the Meroë royal cemeteries has revealed dozens of Nubian pyramids built for Kushite monarchs and officials from roughly the 3rd century BC to 4th century AD, along with temple and palace remains showing strong Egyptian and Hellenistic-Roman influence — consistent with the wealthy royal court implied by Acts 8's description of the eunuch's role.
